What is a GPX file?
GPX is an open XML format for GPS data such as routes, tracks and waypoints. Support and import steps differ between devices and apps.
Create a GPX cycling route in four steps
- Enter your starting point, route type and preferred distance.
- Generate four routes and check them on the map.
- Choose your favourite route and open the download options.
- Select GPX and import the file using the instructions for your device or app.
When should you choose GPX, TCX, KML or GeoJSON?
GPX is the simplest general choice for many bike computers and navigation apps. TCX is also used by training devices, KML by mapping software such as Google Earth, and GeoJSON by GIS and technical applications.
Check the route before importing it
Review the distance, route and possible closures before leaving. BikeRouteNow provides a route file, while the exact import and navigation steps are determined by your bike computer or app provider.
